6.12.2017		Also this year students of Faculty of health science made part of the laboratory exercises in Cell. They took several water samples for microbiological analysis. Obtained results are similar as last year.

21.9.2017		On honeymoon in Ljubljana ... but in the plan, also a visit to the self-sufficient Cell. What kind of a building do they want to build? :)   We hope that in addition to a pleasant gathering, they also get useful information.

15.9.2017		During the visit of several laboratories of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,guest Tuula Löytty from Lahti University of Applied Sciences from Finske olso visited the Cell, which is part of our laboratory. Among the sustainable technologies, she was particularly interested in the green roof and also on our Virtual Lab. Pohvalila je tudi naš Virtualni laboratorij. As it was raining during the visit, we continued the conversation in a pleasant ambience.

12.7.2017		In the frame of 'Gnezdo - Nest' project, measuring station was installed on the Cell. It measures air quality, thermal comfort and other environmental parameters in the city. The current parameters and more about the project can be found on web page: www.projektgnezdo.si

26.5.2017		Cell has a green roof Urbanscape (www). We installed it with the help of an expert from Knauf Insulation from Škofja Loka. Urbanscape green roofs are using lightweight mineral wool substrate Green Roll which has excelent water retention capacity. Plants are Sedum-mix plants, which were irrigated after the instalation.

19.5.2017		Strawberries have returned and are already blooming. The following week Cell will get a new roof, the green roof Urbanscape.

21.2.2017		Students from SGGOŠ wisited us again. This year also a group of Construction technicians visited Celica.

10.1.2017		Virtual Lab works successfully. Regular as well as ERASMUS students of Renewable Energy Sources course made experiments with remote access.

21.11.2016		Students of Faculty of health science made part of the laboratory exercises in Cell. They took several water samples for microbiological analysis. Results showed the efficiency of instaled water filters.

28.10.2016		The last group in October was ERASMUS students from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Architecture. In next months students will visit Cell again (personally and virtually), as VirtualLab will come to live.

11.10.2016		Part of the first lecture on Renewable Energy Sources and the first practical class on Building Utility Technologies was visit of the Cell and it's technologies. This meanns a week with 150+ students of mechanical Engineering and Architecture...

28.9.2016		Work campaign. We refreshed the color of the wooden facades, replace the pannel with partners (new partners who have joined us this year was added) and made some small renewalls.

Aug.2016 Sept.2016		We have been busy this summer! The cell has been upgraded with a remote control experimental platform for students- VirtualLAB. VirtualLAB has been developed in cooperation with MakerLab at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana (www.maker.si). VirtualLAB enables students to control the experimental setups in the Cell remotely as well as download measured data from the cloud. In addition to the data download, all the measured parameters can be monitored online via graphical interface.

16.Jun. 2014		We hosted 6 A, B in C class of primary school Trnovo. We were visited in the context of Technical day, which was held at the school. There were a lot of practical questions. No one guessed the temperature in the vacuume-tube solar collector pipe in the cloudy weather. And there was no red strawberries after the visit.

31.May 2014		The Cell visited a group of primary school children from Ilirska Bistrica, attending RES and RUE seminar on their school, what was evident from their knowledge about the technologies in the Cell. We may inspired some of them to attend the Mechanical engineering summer school.

21.May 2014		The Cell visited a group of best pupils, participants in the contest of Mechanics and their mentors. They also visited laboratories of Faculty of Civil Engineering. We hope that next year more groups from these schools will visit us.

11.Apr. 2014		Spring period of open door hours was started with a visit of a group of students of Secondary vocational and technical school Bežigrad.

31.Dec. 2013		We ended the year with visit of Mr. Lars Lange from Cologne, where they have a similar project of mobile energy self-sufficient buildings.    >>project RACHEL

11.Dec. 2013		Within the BEST days of the art and science a group of students from various faculties came on demonstration of technologies that are built into the Cell.

5.Dec.2013		Faculty of Mechanical Engineering organized kick off meeting of the IEA-ECES expert group. The expert group also visited the Cell. The most attracting was SmartMonitor. Experts were also interested in solutions of PCM energy storages in the Cell.

21.Nov. 2013		A group of 40 students of Technical gymnasium Krško visited the Cell. In spite of mischievous weather they saw everything.

17.Nov. 2013		We had 8 groups of visitors at Open Doors Days of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings. We will join Open Doors Day also next year. More about project: 0energijskehise.si

22.Oct. 2013		Cell can be visit at the time of the trans-European Open Doors Days of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in November. More about project and application form to visit the buildings can be found on the project website: 0energijskehise.si

3.Oct. 2013		A group of international experts, which in the framework of IEA SHC Task 42-29: Compact Thermal Energy Storage works on new materials for energy storage, visited the Cell. They had a meeting at the National Institute of Chemistry Slovenia.

13.Sept.2013		Participants of seminar for secondary school teachers, which was held in Naklo, visited the Cell. Unfortunately they could not try strawberries because kindergarten was on visit in the morning.

18.July 2013		At the end of the BEST course in Ljubljana, entitled The Game of Wood we were visited by a group of about 30 students from all over Europe. They were acquainted with the Cell and technologies and they also try strawberies.

5.July 2013		The Cell visited a group of pupils attending a holiday care n the parish Trnovo. We were pleasantly surprised by their curiosity and knowledge.

25.June 2013		Architecture students Andrea and Polona presented Cell project at the final conference of the IDES EDU project in Maastricht.

20.June 2013		Among the good practice examples of project National Energy Path is also the Self Sufficient Cell. More information about the project and other good practice examples can be found in the website NEP

12.June 2013		In the frame of project Slovenia reduces CO2 a conference "Energy restoration: good practice in local communities" was held on Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Participants also visited our Cell.

5.June 2013		The Cell was visited by a group of pupils from the Secondary School of Civil Engineering and Environmental Protection in Celje. Also their pupils are involved in the construction of low-energy building.

27.May 2013		Overheating of the solar system will be solved this year with a vertical garden that provides shading for solar collectors. Strawberries were planted and now we are waiting for ....

6.May 2013		Finally spring. Open hour each Thursday from 4 to 5 pm. Welcome.

25.Apr. 2013		We congratulate a group of students from Cologne for the Jury winner prize at the Trimo Urban Crash competition. In November they visited the Cell to see our solutions of energy and water self-sufficiency.

29.Mar. 2013		Student Dejan Brozovič defended his thesis entitled Development of an interface to show the building energy indicators. A few days before defended his thesis Matej Pahor entitled Parametric model of heat consumption in buildings.

18.Mar. 2013		Pupils of Vič College made a microbiological analysis of the water in the Cell. We are still waiting on results.

7.Feb. 2013		Aleksandra Šmajdek, a student of Faculty of Architecture, presented Sustainable architecture and Self-sufficient Living Cell project, in which she participated, at primary school Loka in Črnomelj. The presentation was part of elective subjects Environmental education, Exploring hometown and Life of man on the Earth. At the same time, the presentation will serve as preparation for the upcoming Geographic contest, which this year's theme is Sustainable use of energy. The event was organized by mentors Alenka Mravinec and Helena Željko.

1.Feb. 2013		Seminar work of 2nd year pupils of Vič College will include several practical contents. The most interesting was 'serious' and 'less serious' Thermography of the Cell. In addition, the pupils helped to prepare measurements of thermal transmittance of wall in the bathroom. Measurement results will be compared with calculation, which they are already familiar with from Physics lectures. Seminar website is already under construction.

31.Jan. 2013		Presentation of Cell were prepared for a group from Adria Mobil company. Most attention has been given to energy self-sufficiency and to innovative technologies that are built in the Cell.

10.Jan. 2013		Faculty of Mechanical Engineering organized a meeting of IDES-EDU project partners. During the meeting partners visited the Cell, a result of IDES-EDU project.

21.Dec. 2012		As a part of IDES-EDU project students' competition on nearly zero energy buildings is organized. Competition will end in June 2013 in Maastricht (NL). Also the Cell will be presented with poster. The other projects can be seen on project web site > www.ides-edu.eu > Student.

6.Dec. 2012		Open day of the Cell was organized in the frame of Ljubljana University Week 2012. Due to UL demonstrations Open day started one hour later than originally scheduled.

30.Nov. 2012		Another group of students participating in the international Trimo Urban Crash visited the Cell. This time, it has been students from the Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. Group counted slightly less than 20 students.

21.Nov. 2012		Prof. Sašo Medved presented the Cell project in the TV show Dobra ura of TV Slovenia. In the presentation Klemen Kropar, student of Faculty of Architecture, joined the show. Oddajo si lahko ogledate na strani: > media  > tv/video.

21.Nov. 2012		In the international Trimo Urban Crash competition participates also some of our students of Faculty of Architecture. Like their colleagues from Cologne they are looking for solutions to achieve self-sufficiency for energy and water.

14.Nov. 2012		The first group of students of Secondary School of Civil Engineering, Land Surveying and Enviromental Studies Ljubljana visited the Cell. They were interested in presentation of Cell and technologies, they also had a lot of questions. In the next week two groups of students of 2nd and 4th year will visit the Cell.

30.Oct. 2012		A group of four students from Gymnasium Vič selected the topic of Self sufficient living Cell for a seminar. They visited the Cell during autumn holidays. After holidays they will define the contents of the seminar and experiments that they will make in the Cell with their mentors - teachers of physics, chemistry, biology and informatics. After an exhausting presentation of the Cell they were supposedly went to Atlantis.

22.Oct. 2012		Cell visited a group of 15 students and professors of Fachhochschule Koln, Fakultat fur Architektur, which participates in the international Trimo Urban Crash competition.

9. Oct. 2012		New academic year! Cell visited students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, who listen to lectures of Renewable Energy Sources and ERASMUS students of the FME and the Faculty of Architecture.

17.Sept. 2012		Cells and the project were presented at the International Trade Fair MOS 2012, in the context of lectures on Quality energy renovation of building.

10.Sept. 2012

At work in the cell we were surprised by a group of enthusiastic toddlers from the kindergarten Trnovo. They Curiously explore the premises of the Cell. Most interesting was the bathroom, and of course folding cinema chairs in the living room.

4. Sept. 2012		The first reconstruction of the cell. Installation of three filters for cleaning rainwater (fine filter, carbon filter, microbiological filter) ensures that rainwater meets sanitary requirements for drinking water.

10.July 2012		We are on vacation from 15th July to 20th August. Cell’s Open hour will continue from 23rd August, every Thursday between 16 and 17 pm.

6. July 2012		At the first "Open door hour" there was nearly thirty participants. Over the next two weeks, the interest was almost the same!

28.June 2012		Students and colleagues from Faculty of Health Care took water samples in rainwater tank and the faucet and made microbiological analysis. Learn more: > monitoring > reports.

20.June 2012		Cell have visited the first two organized groups. Primary school students from Trnovo, led by g. Benjamin Kocutar, visited the Cell. Most interesting has been cooking eggs in a vacuum solar cooker. Just like at home it takes 10 minutes.

15.June 2012		The Friday 15 June was the official opening of the Cell. Opening was held as an "Open day" between 11am and 16pm.

7. June 2012		Completed the facade of the Cell. Company JUB carried out the final treatment of most internal and external surfaces of the Cell. For the facade a JUBIZOL facade system were used . As the final layer Unix Cool is used, containing selective IR pigments to reduce overheating of Cell throughout the summer.

6. June 2012		Students of the Faculty of Architecture verified natural lighting with measurements in the Cell. Based on illuminance measurements at selected sites in the Cell Daylight factor was determined. The measured values were compared with the results of computer tool VELUX Daylight Visualizer 2. 12. May 2012		PV panels, roof flashing, gutters and wooden facade were installed on the Cell.

11. May 2012		The Cell was transported from the polygon in Central Gameljne to a location in the park near Finžgarjeva street in Ljubljana. The Cell was put together in the same day. The cell is divided into five units, each with its own task: living unit; loft with photovoltaic system; sanitary unit; energy storage unit with heat and rainwater tank, batteries of photovoltaic system and solar collectors; roof of energy unit with vacuum solar hot-air heating system.

3. Apr. 2012		Students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering made a study of PV modules shading for a variety of possible locations of Cell in the park in Trnovo, Ljubljana. Conditions in the park were checked with the help of advanced tools for smart phones (Sunseeker). Distance and height of obstacles were checked in different ways ... Sun path diagrams with mapped obstacles showed optimal location for the Cell close to the promenade in the park.

22. Mar. 2012		The company TITAN staff presented radiant heating system Uponor. With a group of students we installed radiant heating in the floor and wall of living unit.

8. Feb. 2012		Cultural feast, a little something in the morning we will continue to do in Cell. The coldest day in the course of construction. Well, that Cell is already insulated. Then we do not know, but on the day when we transport the Cell in Trnovo Park the ambient temperature will be exactly 50 ° C higher!

25.Nov. 2011		Company Gašper carried out the installation of doors and windows. Built-in windows and doors meet the requirements for passive buildings. They are built in accordance with RAL guidelines for installation. Students of the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering were also present at the installation. Training on the correct installation of doors and windows was organized for them.

14.Nov. 2011		Company KnaufInsulation presents rock wool flock thermal insulation and the way it is blasted into building construction. Part of the bathroom's external wall was insulated in a few minutes.

5. Nov. 2011		The first meeting of the project partners and the media. Presentation of composting toilet, which contributes Ekorim company. The presentation attracted the attention of all.

1. Oct. 2010		New academic year. Project Self-sufficient living cell begins. Students of the Faculty of Architecture made a team that will, within the lectures Building physics and Building services, participating in the project. Cell architectural design will be made within the seminar, led by assistant Igor Seljak. On energy efficient technologies and design of systems for natural resources utilization will work a group of mechanical engineering students at Renewable energy sources lectures.
